We're not Indeed.

We're building a talent marketplace for mid-size markets. Made in Central Valley, not San Francisco.

The Problem

Let's be honest: Indeed doesn't give a shit about Central Valley. Neither does LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, or any of the big job boards.

They're optimized for volume, not quality. They're designed for San Francisco tech companies and New York finance firms, not local businesses in mid-size markets.

Employers get flooded with unqualified applicants. Job seekers send their resumes into a black hole. Everyone wastes time.

What We're Building

209.works is a talent marketplace, not a traditional job board.

Here's how it works: When you apply to a job, you don't just submit an application. You become part of our searchable candidate database.

When new jobs get posted, we search our database and find matches. Then we offer employers an upgrade: "We found 15 pre-qualified candidates in our database. Want us to email them about your job?"

This creates network effects. More applicants → better matches → more employers → more jobs → more applicants.

Translation: Employers get qualified candidates faster. Job seekers get matched to jobs they didn't even know about. Everyone wins.

How We're Different

100% Local

Every job is for the 209 area. No remote spam, no out-of-area listings. If it's posted here, it's actually in Central Valley.

No Accounts Required

Job seekers don't create accounts. Just apply. We handle the rest invisibly in the background.

Pre-Qualified Matches

We screen applicants and match candidates to jobs. Employers only see qualified people, not 200 random resumes.

Database Compounds

Our candidate database grows over time. Year 1: 500 candidates. Year 3: 20,000 candidates. Better matches every month.

For Job Seekers

Apply once, get matched forever.

When you apply to a job on 209.works, we extract your skills, experience, and certifications from your resume. Then we add you to our candidate database.

When new jobs get posted that match your profile, we might reach out to you directly. No need to check the site every day.

  • No account creation (just your email)
  • No LinkedIn-style profile to maintain
  • Direct applications to local employers
  • Get matched to jobs you didn't know about

For Employers

Post a job, get pre-qualified candidates.

When you post a job, we instantly search our candidate database for matches. If we find qualified candidates, we'll offer you an upgrade to email them directly.

Pricing That Makes Sense

  • $99Self-service job posting (30 days active)
  • $199Recruiting upgrade: We email matched candidates from our database

The difference: On Indeed, you pay and hope someone applies. On 209.works, we proactively find candidates for you.

Coverage Area

We serve the entire 209 area code, including:

StocktonModestoTurlockMercedTracyMantecaLodi

Expanding to more area codes in 2025. Own local hiring in your market.

Who This Isn't For

Let's be clear about what we're NOT:

  • We're not a remote job board (that's Remotive, they're great at it)
  • We're not a social network (that's LinkedIn)
  • We're not competing nationally (we own local markets)
  • We're not free (quality costs money, spam is free)
