Lorem Ipsum Medical Clinc is a modern outpatient medical clinic providing high-quality, compassionate care to our community. We are seeking a detail-oriented, professional, and friendly Patient Registration Clerk to join our front-office team. This role is critical in ensuring that patients’ enrollment, insurance, and registration processes run smoothly, and that the first impression of our clinic is warm and efficient.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon arrival, verify identity, and assist with registration paperwork
 - Collect and enter demographic, insurance, and personal information into patient information system
 - Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and patient benefits; process referral authorizations
 - Obtain required signatures and distribute relevant forms
 - Explain clinic policies, financial obligations, and procedures to patients
 - Direct patients to appropriate departments or staff
 - Schedule follow-up appointments when needed
 - Maintain and update patient records, ensure accuracy and completeness
 - Work with billing department to resolve registration or insurance discrepancies
 - Operate standard office equipment (computer, scanner, copier, fax)
 - Assist with clerical tasks (filing, scanning, mailing, telephone inquiries)
 - Comply with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements for patient data
 
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (some postsecondary coursework in medical administration preferred)
 - Experience: At least 1–2 years of clerical/administrative work;preferably prior experience in a clinic, hospital, or medical office setting
 - Knowledge / Skills:
  • Basic understanding of health insurance (private, Medicare / Medicaid)
  • Strong public relations and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail; accurate data entry
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written)
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain confidentiality
  • Familiarity with medical office systems / electronic health records (EHR) is a plus 
Preferred / Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with a specific EHR or patient registration software
 - Bilingual (e.g. English + Spanish)
 - Prior exposure to medical coding or billing processes
 - Coursework or certification in medical office administration
 
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a typical clinical office environment
 - May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or using a computer
 - Occasional lifting of light office materials (e.g. files)
 - Must be able to interact with patients in person and via telephone
